- Founder of bumps’n’babies
Sharon qualified as a midwife in 2004, she has experience of working on labour wards, midwifery led birth units, and in the community including attending home births. In 2006 she moved to the Costa Blanca, Spain, to work in an internationally renowned hospital. There she promoted natural birth in a highly medicalised environment. When she returned to the UK in 2009 she was inspired to found bumps ‘n’ babies after attending a hypnobirthing home birth. She felt there was something special about this particular birth and wanted to spread the word so that more couples could have a similar positive birth experience. As an experienced hypnobirthing practitioner she has lectured many students, midwives and other health professionals about the benefits of hypnobirthing.

Katheryn qualified first as a nurse, specialising in ITU, and then as a midwife in 2006. She has experience working in the hospital, in Delivery Suite and a Midwife Led Unit and in the community at home births. She has also worked as a midwife in Sri Lanka.
In 2011 when pregnant with her first baby she worried about the pain of birth and how she would cope. As a midwife she felt she had too much knowledge of complications. But after being taught hypnobirthing by Sharon and practising the hypnobirthing techniques she didn’t even realise she was in labour until nearly ready to push and she had a planned home birth. This inspired her to train as a hypnobirthing practitioner and she has been teaching HypnoBirthing since 2012. She has had two more babies at home, both very positive births using HypnoBirthing.
Jade Lavelle (CURRENTLY ON MATERNITY LEAVE)
- Registered Nurse and Midwife. RM BSc (Hons) RN BSc (Hons)
- Experienced hypnobirthing Practitioner
- Hypnobirthing mum
Jade has a varied clinical background, starting her professional life as a Staff Nurse caring for renal patients in a busy general hospital. She then retrained to become a midwife in 2010 and has never looked back. Jade adores Midwifery and her passion lies within promoting normal birth. She has worked in all areas of the hospital, including the Midwifery Led Unit and Labour Ward. She has also worked as a community midwife where she has been lucky enough to care for women choosing to birth their babies at home.
When it came to her own pregnancy, Jade was initially petrified of giving birth. By attending a group course taught by Katheryn, she was able to visualise and realise her body’s potential to birth in a calm and comfortable manner. This resulted in a truly positive, empowering and life changing birth experience (with no pain relief and a simply bouncing baby!) This continues to be one of Jade’s biggest achievements to date – fuelling her with a passion to support other women in their quest for positive birth – no matter how that is achieved.

Michelle Maggs (CURRENTLY ON MATERNITY LEAVE)
- Registered midwife RM BSc (Hons)
- Hypnobirthing Practitioner
- Hypnobirthing mum of two hypnobabies
Michelle is an experienced, senior midwife who has predominantly worked within an obstetric unit. Her passion and enthusiasm lies within promoting and supporting normality even when more complex circumstances occur.
When pregnant with her first baby, Michelle was keen to strive for a normal birth, yet was surrounded by experiences of complications which caused massive doubts and anxieties. She was determined to overcome this and although sceptical at first, Michelle undertook a hypnobirthing course taught by Kathryn. Her scepticism didn’t last long! Her first labour and birth resulted in a hugely positive experience which showed her the power of hypnobirthing and the immense difference it can make.
When pregnant for the second time, Michelle revisited the hypnobirthing techniques she had previously learnt and her second labour and birth proved to be a truly empowering, incredible experience. She was subsequently inspired to train as a hypnobirthing practitioner, to be able to spread the word and help others to have powerful and positive births.

- Hypnobirthing Mum of two hypnobabies
Katie worked as an adult nurse specialising in gastroenterology prior to becoming a midwife. She has worked in all area of the hospital such as the antenatal and postnatal wards, the midwife led birthing unit and labour ward where she currently works to date.
When Katie became pregnant she was very keen to try hypnobirthing as she had cared for women that had practised hypnobirthing and was impressed by the way these women coped in labour. She attended a hypnobirthing course taught by Jade. Katie had originally intended to birth in hospital, however towards the end of her pregnancy she decided to birth at home and did so without the need for pain relief. Hypnobirthing allowed Katie to trust her body, to birth her baby as nature intended, which resulted in a positive, empowering birth experience. She has since experienced another wonderful home birth with her second baby.
Katie has a lot of passion and experience of breastfeeding. As a midwife she has advised and helped many women to breastfeed their newborn babies as well as breastfeeding her own babies. Katie has developed our breastfeeding workshop to prepare women and their partners for a calm confident breastfeeding experience.
Sharon, Katheryn, Jade, Michelle and Katie are registered with the NMC, and are members of the RCM and RCN
